Reflection by Hayley

Today was day one of the Vietnam trip. It was a day filled with shopping, exploring, and relaxation. We started our day out with a delicious breakfast at the hotel consisting of a cheese onion and bell pepper omelet, dragon fruit, bread, and guava juice. Then we headed to the old presidents palace. It was beautiful, the large windows, exotic furniture, and incredible landscaping. Afterwards we made our way to the War Museum, where we reminisced on the lives lost and influenced by the war. It filled me with both sadness and happiness at the same time. It made me happy in the sense that it reminded me how fortunate I am for everything in my life, but sad in the sense that I saw all the devastation that was caused as a result of human choices.

Later we stopped by the salon where we got a facial and light massage, where I was able to relax.

Then we went to lunch at a very classy restaurant in Saigon for lunch. I had a bowl with noodles, chicken, egg role along with iced coffee and mocha ice cream all for the low price of 5 dollars.

Then we roamed around the market place where I found a very cute hand made shirt, and a Vietnamese fan.

Afterward we headed to the orphanage, which was an amazing and humbling experience. The girls were all so joyful, thankful, and just happy. It was so amazing to me that given their circumstances they are so happy and content with their life. I had so much fun there and can't wait for our next stop at the orphanage. All and all I have had an unique, enlightlightening, and fun experience so far in Vietnam.
